A geyser is controlled by a pressure control valve that is built into the structure in order to supply hot or cold water to the tap facilities. The main purpose of the geyser is to control and balance the temperature of the hot and cold water coming from the geyser.

The different ways in which a geyser can be damaged is when the geysers bursts as the thermostat is incorrectly set or regulated since the heat levels would cause an explosion due to the accumulated steam and water in the pipes. By switching off the geyser, the electricity consumption will most probably not save much energy and ultimately, does not damage the geyser in any way. The thermostat component of the geyser is designed to switch on and off during the cycle of the system.

One of the balanced ways in which a geyser can maintain efficiency is through efficient temperature control. The recommended geyser temperature should be between 55 and 65 degrees Celsius. The main components of the geyser can also be damaged, which can include the draft diverter, flue pipe, temperature and pressure relief valve and the anti corrosion anode rod.
